I was standing  in line at a Ralphs (grocery store ) this morning around 7:50 am. Noticed I said I was standing in line. There were about 4 people in front of me and about 3 people behind me.

As is customary these days, seniors are allowed VIP treatment from 7am-8am at most grocery stores. Meaning they don’t have to wait in line, they can go on in.

A young lady who works for Ralphs perhaps in a managerial position comes out and makes a very professional announcement:

SENIORS DO NOT HAVE TO WAIT IN LINE. ANYONE OVER 60 YEARS OLD, DON’T HAVE TO WAIT IN LINE.

Now I am 58 annd ¼ (notice the fraction on the age—regressing to child hood)

So because I am not 60 I didn’t get out of line. I stood there like a very young feeling and young looking 58 annd ¼ year old man.

The young lady makes the announcement again, this time looking directly at me.

SENIORS DO NOT HAVE TO WAIT IN LINE. ANYONE OVER 60 YEARS OLD, DON’T HAVE TO WAIT IN LINE.

I smiled, gratefully but did not step out of line.

So then the young lady says directly to me”

The young lady : SIR HOW OLD ARE YOU?

ME: I am fifty nine!

The young lady: She said come in!

After I finished shopping, it made me think that before COVID19, I would have been slightly offended that a young lady would think that I was older than 58 annd 1/4

PERSPECTIVE:  Growing old is a gift that is priceless. One thing that continues to reign true throughout this current crisis, is that we are all connected. For the first time in history, everyone on this planet is faced with the same crisis.  I am convinced that for us to develop vaccines, cures and tests for this disease, it will require HK20.  HK20 is Human Kindness in 2020.  We ARE each others keepers.

As always wishing you more love more laughter more peace more gratitude and more hand sanitizer! (SW4)
